New Book – Transforming Marketing Capabilities

New Book – Transforming Marketing Capabilities

(PRWEB UK) 10 January 2012

The challenge of how to drive sustainable, profitable growth is facing businesses across the world. The Growth Drivers, a new business book published this month, explores the critical role that marketing and marketers play in creating the customer value needed to drive demand-led growth. It is designed to be the definitive guide to transforming organisational marketing capabilities, written by the acknowledged experts and pioneers in the field..

The authors, Andy Bird and Mhairi McEwan, ex Unilever/PepsiCo marketing executives and co-founders of Brand Learning, have pioneered the category of marketing capability development and their team has supported over 100 multinational companies in 60 countries. This book contains their experience and also shares the practical insights and honest reflections of over 40 senior business and marketing leaders in driving the growth of their brands and businesses across the world.

The Growth Drivers offers fresh new thinking, inspiring case histories and a wealth of practical tools, to help CEOs, CMOs and other business and marketing leaders transform the marketing capabilities and commercial performance of their people, teams and organisations.

The authors argue that: “As the risk of widespread global recession increases, the urgent questions as to how businesses can drive sustainable, profitable growth in tough economic conditions are rarely being met with any convincing answers. Our book explores the vital role that marketing, marketers and marketing capability development can play in helping to drive growth by proactively equipping and enabling organisations to create better customer value.”

The foreword for The Growth Drivers is written by CBI president Sir Roger Carr and it has attracted a host of testimonials from senior business and marketing leaders and academics including:

Sir Roy Gardner, chairman, Compass Group plc
Keith Weed, chief marketing & communication officer, Unilever plc
Simon Lowden, chief marketing officer, Pepsi Beverages, North America
Keith Weed, chief marketing & communication officer, Unilever plc
Jill McDonald, CEO McDonald’s UK & president Northern Europe Division
Professor Malcolm McDonald, emeritus professor, Cranfield University School of Management, UK
Kevin Lane Keller, professor Marketing Tuck Business School, Dartmouth, US

The Growth Drivers addresses a broad range of topics which are relevant for marketing and business leaders. These include: The role of marketing and of Marketers in driving growth:

The DNA of a great Marketer
The leadership skills that every senior Marketer needs to influence the company growth agenda
The training trap – how marketing capability development is NOT simply training
How human resources can adopt marketing processes to build the employer brand and attract the very best talent
How Marketers can improve their commercial awareness
How to create a marketing capability strategy and development programme
How to embed a marketing capability programme within the organisation
How to measure the ROI on marketing capability investment
How to organise to sustain capability development

Mhairi McEwan and Andy Bird conclude: “We believe Marketers must step up and embrace their strategic role as growth drivers. They should work tirelessly to establish and sustain a compelling customer-focused vision for their organisations. They need to inspire and engage people both inside and outside the organisation to deliver that vision and constantly re-evaluate and assess their delivery of value as the external landscape changes.”

They add, “We’re indebted to the many clients , academics , industry experts and colleagues who have contributed their experience, case studies and learnings to The Growth Drivers. At a time when the business world is so desperately in need of the capabilities to drive growth, we hope our book will make an important contribution to the debate and to practical, proactive change.”

The Growth Drivers is published by Wiley and is now available from Amazon and leading booksellers.

Nikon Announces New Innovative Powerful Mirrorless Cameras

Nikon 1 V1 Camera

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 21, 2011

B&H Photo will be one of the first retailers to stock the new Nikon V1 and J1 cameras, designed to meet the needs of professional and enthusiast photographers who demand performance, reliability and versatility in a compact form factor.

Nikon has introduced a new ‘CX’ (13.2 x 8.8mm) digital imaging format, and a pair of compact mirrorless cameras to go along with the new imaging system. Officially tagged the Nikon 1 System, the new cameras are called the Nikon V1 and Nikon J1, and they are designed around a new CX-format CMOS sensor that is—as far as size goes—midway between a FourThirds and a point-and-shoot format sensor. The crop factor is 2.7x.

Both cameras feature an all-new 10MP CX- format CMOS imaging sensor; 10 full-res frames-per-second capture rates; a dedicated Nikon System 1 lens mount designed specifically for use with the new CX-format sensor; JPEG, NEF(RAW), or NEF(RAW)+JPEG stills; full HD video (1,920 x 1,080/60i, 1,920 x 1,080/30p, 1,280 x 720/60p; a Smart Photo Selector that automatically captures a high-res still while recording HD 1080p video; and a new dual-core EXPEED 3 image processor, which according to Nikon is tuned to enable the new cameras to perform as advertised.

Other features include a new 73-point hybrid AF system that automatically switches between phase and contrast detection as needed and full-time continuous focusing, and an ISO range of 100-3200 (expandable to ISO 6400).

In addition to the abovementioned attributes, the Nikon V1 features a high-definition 1,4400,000-dot electronic viewfinder (EVF) that comes into play when you raise the camera to your eye, along with a more traditional 3.0”, 920,000-dot rear-mounted LCD. The less expensive version, the Nikon J1, features a 3.0”, 460,000-dot LCD and does not have an EVF.

In addition to a standard 10-30mm kit lens (27-81mm equivalent), there’s also a 1 Nikkor 10mm/f2.8 pancake lens (27mm equivalent), a 1 Nikkor 30 – 110mm/f3.8-5.6 (81-297mm equivalent), and a 1 Nikkor VR 10-100mm/4.5-5.6 (27-270mm equivalent) power zoom, which is optimized for smooth, quiet video capture. New Nikon Nikkor mirrorless lenses

Accessories for Nikon’s System 1 cameras include an SB-N5 Speedlight, an external stereo microphone for greater audio fidelity, and the GP-N100 GPS module, each of which couples to the camera via a Multi-Accessory port located on the camera’s top deck.

Guide to Find Best Hi-Def Camcorders – Part Two

By: Gill Critchley
Posted: Oct 14, 2009

Fortunately for shoppers, hi-def does not necessarily mean high price. The Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2 is half the price of the HDR-SR8 at around £500. It is one of the smallest camcorders around and you can record an hour of 720p footage into a single 4GB SD memory card at 30 frames per second. The filmed footage can then be played back on an HD television with the supplied remote control. One advantage of physical media is that they can be swapped out easily and cheaply. Mini DVD or MiniDV tapes are cheap and lightweight so you can stock up all of the footage that you’ve filmed so that it can all be shared, stored or edited at a later date. The HD video (HDV) format records compressed hi-def video onto standard MiniDV tapes. The Canon HV20 is one of the lightest of these camcorders at 440g, so it is therefore one of the most pocket-friendly and functional HDV camcorders on the market. A CMOS sensor captures 1,920 horizontal and 1,080 vertical pixels for 1080i hi-def or wide-screen standard definition video. It’s surprisingly good in low light and is extremely user-friendly, so it would be great for beginners. The HV20 also captures MiniDVD. MiniDVD is always a good option for recording video as it is the format that can most easily be accessed. When video has been shot in hi-def, it can be played back on HD televisions to take full advantage of the extra image detail HD affords, making all your hard work worth while. Although not technically a hi-def camcorder, the Panasonic NV-GS300 provides crisp, detailed video that can be enjoyed on HDTVs. This is due to the fact that it has three CCD image sensors which are able to capture richer colour and sharper images than single-CCD cameras. Camcorders are great gadgets for capturing all of those moments and events that you want to remember forever and hd camcorders will ensure that your memorable moments are shot in the best quality possible. If you’re after a camcorder, the best thing to do is to shop online to make sure that you get the best offer available.
