Playstation 3 is a powerful cabinet whose power is more as compare to the personal computers. Computer serves with dual core processor whereas the play station3 is powerful enough to serve eight processing cores which mean it has four times more standard then that of the personal computers.
To make the gamers enjoy many advanced features and to make the things easier, Sony has launched PS3 in which the people could install the powerful streaming software Linux. This could be easily installed and it is free from further adding any new hardware or other units. It would be great enough to convert it into a personal computer. Linux for PS3 is made solely for the purpose to give additional benefits to its users. Apart from playing games, you could also watch DVD movies, add windows operating system. Through this you could add other applications of windows in.
When windows operating system in installed in Linux for PS3, then you could also installed the word processing software, like ms office which would enable you to take printouts by attaching printer. The best feature of Linux is when you installed it then every files remains well in the hard drive and no changes occur. It would work as that of your personal computer which also does dual boots and asks you to run the operating system or the Linux operating system.
Linux comes in several versions. So it became rather difficult to choose which version of Linux for PS3 is to be installed. One of the problems that generally arrive is that not all the versions of Linux support the eight cores processor. As most of the Linux version are solely made for the purpose of the home computers and these computers comes with dual core processors. One of the Linux versions that supports the core is the Yellow Dog Linux version.
This Yellow Dog Linux version is made specifically for the PS3 cores. Besides this there are many advantages of using the Yellow Dog Linux version. As it is made intentionally for the PS3 so it would work well with it and it would also supports all the hardware and perform all the functions well. This version of Linux for PS3 could also be available in the home computers which includes the programs like word processors, internet browser etc. Installing Linux software on PS3 is a powerful tool to convert PS3 into super computers and get rid from old boring games. It helps in making the life of the people more enjoyable that too with an affordable price.
